Introducing Helen Carvolth

It gives the Ady Ensemble great pleasure to announce Helen Carvolth as one of our Concertmasters for our 2023 projects.

Helen Carvolth studied the violin at the University of Queensland with Patricia Pollett and Spiros Rantos.  She has played with the Queensland Philharmonic, the QSO, the Queensland Pops Orchestra, and led the University of Queensland Symphony Orchestra for two years before winning the University String Prize.

Helen is a highly respected upper strings tutor and ensemble director who has taught at Ipswich Girls’ Grammar School, St Aidans’ AGS, West Moreton Anglican College; to name a few.  She also founded and ran “Sound Start Music”, an early childhood music program, from 2009-2010.  Helen led the Ipswich City Orchestra and the Ipswich City String Quartet until May 2022, when she launched her own ensemble “Riverbend Ensemble”.

One of Helen’s proudest moments was in 2020, when together with frequent partner-in-crime Adrian Head, she produced two bushfire fundraising concerts which helped raise several thousand dollars.

Helen has been involved with Ady for several years, including undertaking Principal roles with the ensemble for their 2018 recording of Corrina Bonshek’s, “Dreams of the Earth”, & in 2021 the ensemble’s recording of Brahms’ 2nd Symphony.
