Violin Week: Concertmaster Helen Carvolth
As part of our Violin Week recruiting drive, we would like to reintroduce Helen Carvolth – one of our two Concertmasters for 2023 – & share a little bit more about some of Helen’s more recent activities.
Helen had worked with Ady’s Le Grande Fromage in several other orchestras, including the Ipswich City Symphony, prior to jumping onboard as Principal 2nd Violin for Ady’s recording of Corrina Bonshek’s, “Dreams of the Earth”, back in 2018. Since then she has often worked in that role, including the ensemble’s recording of Brahms’ 2nd Symphony.
Over the last year, Helen has been developing her own chamber group, the Riverbend Ensemble, based around the standard string quartet with additional players & soloists. You can find more about the ensemble on their website & Facebook page. They have two concerts coming up in May, in Toowong & Maleny, including works by Mozart, Tchaikovsky, & more.
Helen is a dedicated performer & teacher, & we’re honoured that she has stepped up to be one of Ady’s Concertmaster’s for 2023, & we look forward to working with her in her new role, & leading our wonderful violins.
Got a fiddle? Want to join Helen & the rest of our team of violinists for our upcoming project, “New but old. Old but new”, which includes performing Bruckner’s 4th Symphony & Rachel Merton’s, “Allegro for Strings”? Then pop over to our Vacancies page or scroll below to contact us. More details can be found on our Events page. We look forward to hearing from you soon!
